‌Leveling agent itself usually has no odor. Leveling agent is a surfactant whose main function is to reduce the surface tension of the coating and promote its leveling process, so as to obtain a flat and smooth coating film. Leveling agent itself does not produce odor, but it may react with other ingredients in the coating during use to produce a certain odor. For example, some leveling agents may produce volatile and odorous substances when working at high temperatures.

In addition, different types of leveling agents have different ingredients and uses. For example, UV leveling agent is a silicone acrylate, which appears as a light yellow transparent liquid with a non-volatile content of 100%. Water-based acrylic leveling agent such as LAG-925 is a VOC-free acrylic copolymer surface additive that can improve the leveling of water-based coatings and adhesives, improve the gloss of the paint film, and eliminate craters and fish eyes.
